Backdrop for living or contemplative space, landscape is both ubiquitous and invisible. Landscape remains, nevertheless, a major political and sociological issue. Photographers explore our surroundings, looking to capture new facets of a shifting landscape. How can landscape, an exemplar of durability and sculpted by man and nature over the ages, be reconciled with the intrinsically instantaneousness act of taking a photograph?
The exhibition PAYS-AGES (Landscapes) offers us some complementary and diverse visions of landscape as represented by today's photographers, video artists and painters.
As part of the 50 years of Lac Salagou, one room of the exhibition will be devoted to the photographs of Georges Souche known for his series “Planet Salagou”.
