Ammonite
Ammonite Arieticeraslatti

Further south under the sea

-185 million years

During the lower Jurassic era, our territory was situated under the sea as this ammonite fossil of Arieticeraslatti shows us. Its beauty is due to pyrite, an iron mineral. The ammonites are marine molluscs which disappeared at the same time as the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

This work belongs to the collection "Traces of life".
